The ARISS event will start with a tour of the Udvar-Hazy addition to the National Air & Space Museum. All international participants are invited and encouraged to present a paper at and/or participate in the AMSAT Symposium. One of the goals of the scheduling of the meetings back-to-back is the exchange of information and the chance for more people from both groups to meet each other. Frank will be starting the agenda in the near future. It was noted that there will be a Project Selection and Use Committee meeting a month or so prior to the October meeting in order to prepare for a half-day technical meeting that will be held just before the start of the plenary session. Please register for the AMSAT symposium prior to September 8 to get the lowest price. 2) Netherlands Minutes available on ARISS Server, Presenter: Frank Bauer Ken Pulfer confirmed that the minutes are on the server. Still working domain name issues for the ARISS website. Frank and Gaston will query Alberto Zagni on transferring the ariss.org domain to allow the ARISS team to use it for the web site. 3) New business (administrative only) Robin has been receiving names for nomination to the executive positions for the elections at the ARISS meeting in October. Additional nominations should be e-mailed to him. General Session 4) New Satellite Proposal, Presenter: Sergej Samburov NOTE: Sergej’s home email is working sporadically, so please send to his work email address. Sergej is still waiting for the high-level agreements to be signed, including financial arrangements. The idea is to launch a satellite from the ISS during an EVA. The anticipated date is October 2005 to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the Moscow Higher Technical University/ Moscow State Technical University Named After N.E. Bauman, the oldest engineering and technical school in Russia. Many prestigious engineers and technical specialists graduated from this school. The preliminary design is for a cube roughly 23 cm on a side that would last for a month or two after release from the ISS before it re-enters the atmosphere. One option under consideration is the autonomous operation of the satellite attached to the ISS for some period of months prior to release. The frequencies and modes of operation are still under consideration, but probably 2m would be used. Robin – Would like to have a proposal, with as many details as are available, sent to the PS&U Committee for its consideration. Sergej agreed. 5) PS&U Committee Progress Report, Presenter: Mike Miller Mike is waiting for replies to his email inquiries to Miles Mann and Scott Stevens. Miles will talk to Graham about the digital TV project. Scott is waiting for a response from Wayne Harasimovitch regarding IRLP. 6) New business None.
