ARISS I Agenda:

Administrative Session

1. Berlin ISS Symposium. Presenter: G. Bertels

The Berlin ISS Symposium is a yearly event, and this year it is devoted to science topics, particularly, microgravity topics. Dave Jordan, AA4KN, remarked that students are invited and suggested to explore the feasibility of an ARISS contact.

Gaston contacted Nigel Savage, Head of Education Unit at ESA’s Promotion Office. Nigel determined two slots during the Symposium and asked to explore if an ARISS contact is technically possible. Nigel will be in Washington D.C. this week and talk with Regina Blue about this project.

Kenneth, N5VHO, will check feasibility.

2. New business (administrative only)

No new business.

General Session

3. Columbus module status, Presenters: G. Bertels, K. Ransom

Kenneth is working on the possibility of the team replacing the Ericsson VHF radio with a unit that we may be able to launch on Soyuz 33. The date for that launch is tentatively set for 5 December, 2012.

There was no telecon held this past week for HamTV project discussions, but there will be one this week.

We will now have NASA/ESA coordination meetings for the HamTV project. NASA will work with the ESA payloads team so that all is coordinated. Some coordination will also take place between the ESA and NASA education offices.

Alex Nitsch, ESA Columbus Mission Director, will be joining the NASA-ESA-ARISS telecons. The next telecon of this type will be held this week. Another ESA representative, Elisabeth Celton, ISS missions - Payloads Coordinator, is taking part in the telecons as well.

4. New business

No new business.

The next ARISS International Delegates Monthly Telecon Meeting will be April 17, 2012.

Respectfully submitted,

Rosalie White, K1STO
