ARISS I Agenda:
Administrative Session
1. ARISS-I Face to Face Meeting, October 2011, Presenter: R. White
- Reports
All but one report has been submitted. The delegates are asked to read the reports PRIOR to the meeting so they will be prepared for any discussion or questions. This will allow the meeting to move quickly from reports to the necessary actions and allow adequate time for discussion.
- HamTV
Meeting A presentation will be given Thursday evening after dinner on the technical details of the HamTV effort underway by AMSAT-Italy. Lou McFadin would like to tie in Art Towslee via phone and Graham Shirville has asked to be tied in as well. Best efforts will be made to accomplish this.
- Remote attendance
So far only Graham Shirville has requested to attend, and would like to be present for all of the meetings. Mark Steiner will work out the details.
2. New ARISS-I Educational Outreach & School Selection Committee Member, Presenter: R. White
Joerg Hahn, DL3LUM, has been a member since the beginning of ARISS and has recently stepped down. The ARISS international team thanks him for his many years of service in this position.
Francesco De Paolis IK0WGF is the new member from Europe. We welcome him to the team and anticipate his participation.
3. New business (administrative only)
None.
General Session
4. Columbus Module status, Presenters: G. Bertels, K. Ransom
Gaston reported that the HamTV details will be discussed during the face to face meeting as noted above, along with information about the power supply that will also be provided through the ESA effort.
The UHF Ericsson in the Columbus Module is in regular operation, typically in packet mode.
The US team is attempting to have a backup VHF Ericsson radio launched on the Space-X demo version, with installation hopefully in January 2012.
5. ARISSat-1 status, Presenter: L. McFadin
ARISSat-1 continues to operate well, considering the battery has failed. Signals are strong when the spacecraft is in sunlight and then it goes quiet when in shadow.
AMSAT again sponsored the Chicken Little Contest to have people guess the re-entry date. Entries were due Oct. 15, 2011, and the following numbers of people participated:
Adults: 53 from 13 countries and 6 continents
K-8: 3 classes/clubs, USA and Germany
19 individuals, mostly from the same US school
High School 2 classes/clubs, UK and Hungary
1 individual, UK
Graham Shirville asked about the status of the lessons learned document that had been discussed previously, and is looking forward to learning from it.
6. New business
None.
The international partners will next get together October 28 – 29, 2011 in Houston, Texas, USA.
The next international partners telecon will be Tuesday, November 15, 2011.
Respectfully submitted,
Mark Steiner, K3MS, for the ARISS Team
