ARISS I Agenda:
Administrative Session
1. ARISS-I Face to Face Meeting, Presenter: D. Taylor
-Dates/availability
The timeframe is narrowing down to either May 5-7 or May 12-14, but has not been finalized yet.
- Location
The meeting is likely to be in Houston, TX, although it has not been finalized yet.
The goal is to finalize arrangements by Feb. 5 so airline flights and visas can be arranged.
2. New business (administrative only) – none.
General Session
3. Columbus module status, Presenters: G. Bertels, K. Ransom
ESA has not made a decision on HamTV yet, so the ARCOL WG is standing by.
The additional hardware needed to install the Ericsson set of equipment in the Columbus Module is still awaiting launch on the next shuttle, currently set for later in February. It was noted that the 2 m and 70 cm frequencies to be used on the Columbus Module have not yet been determined.
4. HamTV - PSU status, Presenters: M. Steiner, L. McFadin
Lou asked Mark Steiner to help out by being the administrative chair of the committee. After approval from Gaston and Rosalie, Mark sent out an email to the current members with a reminder of the committee history and functions and the Ham TV proposal information. He is waiting for confirmation from committee members of their ability to support the committee. (Note: Japan is looking for a replacement for Fumio Asai.) Mark is working to get a committee recommendation on the Ham TV proposal to the ARISS Delegates by early February.
The committee functions generally in the open, so if delegates would like a status please let Mark know.
5. ARISSat-1 status, Presenters: G. Smith, L. McFadin
The satellites were delivered to RSC-Energia in late December and Sergey Samburov tested and prepared them for launch. They were shipped to Baikonur on January 11 for a late January launch, currently set for January 27. Kenneth noted that the EVA has been moved up to February 16 from later in the month in order to not conflict with the anticipated docking of the Shuttle.
AMSAT continues to prepare the ground station telemetry decoding software for general release, and anticipates being able to release it shortly. The team is also working on the ARISSat-1 website, which will include information for hams, students, and educators.
6. New business – none.
The next international partners telecon will be Tuesday, February 15, 2011.
Respectfully submitted,
Mark Steiner, K3MS, for the ARISS Team
