ARISS I Agenda:

Everyone wished Lou McFadin a happy 70th birthday today.

Administrative Session

1. New business (administrative only)

Gaston noted that it is time to organize ARISS-I board elections, as they are to be done every even-numbered year. Gaston asked Daniel Lamoureux to organize, and he agreed. His plan is to send out a first email to the delegates by June 26th asking for nominations. He will give one and a half months for nominations, until mid-August, and if a vote is required, he will give one month for that vote, until mid September. He will then announce results by email to the delegates by Sept 20th followed by an announcement to the ARISS-I and AMSAT reflectors by Sept 25th.

General Session

2. Columbus module status, Presenters: G. Bertels, M. Severance

Kenneth Ransom reported that the necessary cable for operating the Ericsson system in the Columbus Module is in final preparation at Kennedy Space Center for launch on ULF-5 currently planned for launch in September 2010. Installation is planned for early January 2011.

The AIS sister antenna system fabricated by Lou McFadin and the US team is working well, so we are anticipating successful use of the nearly-identical twin ARISS antenna.

Gaston reported that Kayser-Italia has prepared a new offer to ESA for the preparation of a Digital TV system that will be discussed at this Friday’s ARCOL telecon. The development of equipment by the ham community is still an open question at this point.

3. ARISSat-1 status, Presenters: L. McFadin, G. Smith

Lou reported that spacecraft assembly is occurring in Orlando, FL. Continuous operation testing of the components is progressing well as well as the preparations for the vibration testing at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. Thermal vacuum testing has gone well, so it is anticipated that final testing of the flight components will go well when it starts in the near future.

Mark Severance, Lou McFadin, and Sergey Samburov discussed some technical and logistics details.

4. New business

None.

The next telecon is planned for Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 11:15 UTC.

Respectfully submitted,

Mark Steiner, K3MS, for the ARISS Team
