ARISS I Agenda:
Administrative Session
1. ARISS payload status, Presenters: K. Ransom, M. Severance
The power cable required to connect the Ericsson radios in the Columbus Module has been tested and the team is waiting the results. Target launch is ULF-6 at the end of July, with the desire to have it delivered prior to the end of Nespoli’s flight in December.
Official payload operations support by Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) is set to begin July 12, 2010.
2. New business (administrative only)
None.
General Session
3. New ARISS QSL card status, Presenter: R. White
Rosalie has tallied responses from the delegates and the most popular was the photo ending in -12100. She will email this result back out to the delegates. Rosalie has started to receive the quantities of cards desired by each region, and has asked the ARRL and the European team to get prices. Rosalie will circulate the final proposed wording for the back of the card as there have been updates in the last several months. Most if not all regions have enough cards for the short term until the new cards are in.
4. Columbus module status, Presenters: G. Bertels, M. Severance
Gaston reported that the L/S band project being worked by the ARCOL WG (Amateur Radio on Columbus Module – Working Group) is working out the details of the technical proposal. It has been decided that the team will not be able to support the December 2010 launch time frame, and the targeted launch date is later in 2011 with an installation by Andre Kuipers. Gaston thanked Nespoli who, with the support of AMSAT Italia, took the initiative to try to get an L/S band station onboard. Even though it will not be accomplished during his flight, his effort was instrumental in getting the whole project going.
5. ARISSat-1 status, Presenters: L. McFadin, G. Smith
Gould, Lou, and their team is making good progress towards meeting the July 1 delivery date. The hardware, software, and testing equipment are all coming along well, including the reconstruction of the AMSAT-NA thermal-vacuum test facility. A prototype of the satellite will be running at Dayton Hamvention in May.
The set of recorded greetings and students’ drawing files has been finalized, although Dave Jordan is still working on getting the final permissions for the students’ portions of the mission, with only 8 of the 27 greetings ready for release. There are 35 images being worked for final release.
Sergey Samburov will be the licensee of the satellite and its call will be RS01S. He is working the application through the Russian ministry for telecommunications and the ITU as well as the frequency coordination with the IARU.
Sergey has been training the crew in the hydrolab for the deployment of the satellite.
6. New business
None
The next telecon is planned for Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 11:15 UTC.
Respectfully submitted,
Mark Steiner, K3MS, for the ARISS Team
