ARISS-I Agenda:

Administrative Session

1. New business (administrative only)

None.

General Session

2. Back of ARISS QSL card, Presenter: R. White

Rosalie distributed an email to the delegates with the new proposed wording for the back of the QSL card that describes the ISS and has received helpful inputs. Rosalie will send the final proposed text for the back in an email to the delegates. The delegates will need to return any additional comments to her by March 2, along with the quantities that they anticipate needing.

Sergey asked that Kenneth review more recent photographs to see if there is even a better choice for the QSL cards, given the current mission.

3. Columbus module status, Presenter: G. Bertels, M. Severance

Gaston – ESA desires very strongly to have amateur radio equipment installed in Columbus for Nespoli’s stay onboard the ISS for 6 months beginning this December. They would like to see, if possible, L- and S-band operations. The team from Italy is actively assembling a proposal to provide this equipment, although the timeline to have something assembled, tested, and ready to fly is very tight. They hope to have the proposal ready in the next week or so.

Mark Severance is working on VHF/UHF Ericssons installation details (mounting hardware and location, power compatibility, electromagnetic interference certifications, etc.) with the Columbus operations team. The current working plan is to mount the hardware on a Bogen bracket on the wall to the right as you first enter the Columbus module. Equipment could go up on ULF-6 (Utilization and Logistics Flight) for installation, which is fortuitous as two active hams, Roberto Vittori and Mike Fincke, will be on that shuttle flight and very interested in getting it installed and tested. Frequency coordination is being worked as well.

4. ARISSat-1 status, Presenter: L. McFadin

The ARISSat-1 team is currently meeting in Orlando, Florida for a design and status review. Hardware assembly should occur in the next two weeks or so. Testing plans are being worked, after which a detailed schedule for delivery will be developed.

5. New business

The next international partners meeting will be Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Note that the US will be going to Daylight Savings Time on March 14 so the UTC time will be changing.

Respectfully submitted,

Mark Steiner, K3MS, for the ARISS Team
