ARISS I Agenda:
Administrative Session
1. QSL card, Presenter: R. White
The delegates have decided which picture of the ISS to use. Last night Rosalie sent out a proposed configuration for the reverse side of the card, and has already started to receive comments.
2. New business (administrative only)
None.
General Session
3. Columbus module status, Presenter: M. Severance
(Mark not present, Lou McFadin and Mark Steiner provided status.) The ISS Ham antenna is in the payload bay of the shuttle, ready for November 16 launch. Mark Severance is working plans to have the US team that fabricated the antenna be available to support the installation of the antenna (along with the AIS antenna) on the Flight Day 6 EVA.
The US team is also working options for putting equipment in the lab. The initial plan for a quick deployment using existing power “bricks” does not look to be feasible after all, so the US team is falling back to look at a complete solution for putting power and radios in the lab. The goal is to come up with a comprehensive system that makes most efficient use of upmass and is flexible for initial use as well as options in the future. Once these plans are firmed up the team will present them for ARISS approval.
4. ARISSat-1 status, Presenter: L. McFadin
Electronics hardware is running for the most part, still need to finish up the software. Mechanical structure components are being fabricated at this time. The team is looking at putting transparent covers over the solar arrays that will not need to be removed prior to deployment during the EVA. They are also working on a method to do a complete end-to-end system test on-orbit after battery installation prior to the EVA.
The crew will need to throw three switches just prior to release to remove safety inhibits and allow the satellite to begin transmissions.
The voice messages and the contest still need to be finalized. Rosalie has started to solicit drawings and pictures to be included on a memory stick in ARISSat-1 as well as to be available on the web.
Gaston plans to finish the European submission in the next week or so.
5. New business
None.
The next international partners meeting is currently scheduled for Tuesday, December 15, 2009.
Respectfully submitted,
Mark Steiner, K3MS, for the ARISS Team
