ARISS I Agenda:
Administrative Session
1. ARISS-I Face to Face Meeting, Moscow, status, Presenter: S. Samburov
The meeting in Moscow will be July 17 -18, preceeded by a delegates-only meeting the afternoon/evening of July 16. Sergey is planning a side trip to Kaluga, the home of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, over the weekend of July 19 – 20. It is critically important for everyone to coordinate their travel plans (names and dates) with Carol Jackson, as NASA will be providing interpreter, transportation, and hotel reservation services and an accurate head count is needed. It would also be helpful to try, to some extent, to coordinate flights to minimize trips to and from the airport. People should plan on arriving a day in advance to adjust for the time change.
It is time for the agenda to be developed, and Frank and Gaston will be pulling it together. Please respond in a timely manner to their draft.
2. Nominating Committee, Presenter: F. Bauer
Frank handed over the discussion lead to Rosalie White. As in the past, the Canadian team has stepped up, and Daniel Lamoureux has volunteered to run the nomination process. Positions open for election at the summer 2008 meeting will be Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer. Nominees must be official delegates, and only the delegates can make nominations. The delegates unanimously accepted Daniel’s offer to run the process. He will be performing this function primarily by email.
3. SuitSat-1 Certificates, final call, Presenter: F. Bauer
Frank would like to wrap this up in the next month, and is waiting for the final list from Japan. Keigo will get this to Frank in the next week or two.
4. Telebridge Request - status, Presenter: F. Bauer
The request for telebridge station applications garnered quite a positive response, including some stations with high potential for being good bridge stations. Dave Taylor has volunteered to shepherd the process of identifying suitable stations and operators and get them prepared for contacts in the fall of 2008. More will be coming from Dave in the near future.
5. New Business (administrative only)
None.
General Session
Frank congratulated the Japanese delegation on the successful installation of the first portion of the Kibo module and the Canadian delegation on the ongoing installation of the DEXTRE robot.
6. SuitSat-2 status, Presenter: L. McFadin
Received two solar panels for modification and testing. The Internal Housekeeping Unit (IHU) hardware is being finalized, although the software developer has had to leave the program. A good bit of coding has been done, but much remains. The Software Defined Transponder (SDX) is in the process of being integrated with the RF portion of the system. The CW encoding of the calls is coming along.
7. New business
None.
The next meeting will be April 15.
Respectfully submitted,
Mark Steiner, K3MS, for the ARISS Team
