ARISS I Agenda:
Administrative Session
1. ARISS Face-to-Face Meeting, University of Surrey, July/Aug 2005, Presenters: J. Heck, C. Eavis, G. Shirville Discussion:
Jim – Final preparation meeting is Wednesday, July 20; almost all is ready. All registered should have received confirmation emails by tomorrow. Gaston has distributed by email an agenda for the meeting. Jim has 14 people signed up for the riverboat dinner cruise, and is wondering if some people listed on the agenda are attending via telecon. Frank mentioned Dave Taylor and Bob Bruninga as not attending in person. Jim is looking for others to make reservations with him via email.
Jim will collect travel arrival details and distribute to the rest of the ARISS-I list. Jim’s email address is g3wgm@amsat.org.
2. New Business (administrative only)
None
General Session
3. SpaceCam and school CD project, Presenter: Miles Mann
Discussion:
Miles would like to re-use the school CD, and have the crew periodically re-transmit images from the school CD via SpaceCam. This would give more coverage for ARISS and all that we do by getting schools more excited about the items we are flying.
Frank noted that there are some images of school students for which we do not have permission to distribute. We would have to be careful what we send down and make sure we have proper permission for pictures we do send down.
Miles: perhaps in the future we might have more time and be able to request release permissions.
SpaceCam status – Hardware with cabling for Kenwood D700 has been received by Sergey and should be launched with the SuitSat hardware on the Progress 19P flight, probably late September. It has been safety certified. Dedicated ISS Ham computer will be delivered on next Soyuz flight. The SpaceCam software will be launched this fall, most likely on 19P as well. Sergey is trying to get his webcam certified for flight.
4. MISSE5/PCSAT2, Presenter: B. Bruninga
Discussion:
Equipment is aboard STS-114, ready for launch and installation during the third EVA. Two transponders have a 2m uplink and 70cm down that should not interfere with current ARISS voice operations. Third is 2m up and down, for packet, that might interfere with ARISS voice so it will probably stay off unless there will be a long period with no voice operations.
The US team is working on coordinating frequencies and operations to minimize interference. There will be discussions on band planning, to include tradeoffs of performance vs. equipment available to typical hams around the world.
5. SuitSat Status, Presenters: S. Samburov, L. McFadin
- Educational Project Status, Presenter: F. Bauer
Discussion:
Sergey – SuitSat equipment successfully passed vacuum test with the equipment on.
The pictures DVD will be finalized this weekend and brought to the UK next week.
6. New business
