ARISS I Agenda:
Administrative Session
1) ARISS Face-to-Face Meeting, University of Surrey, July/Aug 2005,
Presenters: G. Shirville, C. Eavis
Discussion:
AMSAT-UK Colloquium finishes mid-afternoon Sunday, so there is a possibility of some ARISS meetings Sunday afternoon, if needed. Formal ARISS International partner meeting will be Monday, August 1 and Tuesday, August 2. The meetings will be held in the large conference room at the University of Surrey, that includes internet access and projection capabilities. Telecon facilities will need to be looked into.
For airline notes: there is one bus from Heathrow to a train station, then the Surrey train station is almost at the university -- allow 2 hours from Heathrow. Travel from Gatwick is not much easier than from Heathrow. The information is on the AMSAT-UK Web site, http://www.uk.amsat.org/Colloquium/default.php
Accommodations are available at the University. For housing, the choices are a university single room or a double room with on-suite or communal restrooms. There also are hotel accommodations about 1/2 mile away. Graham will forward Web information to Rosalie to be shared. Lodging info will be available on the AMSAT-UK website. Meals will be at local restaurants on-site. AMSAT-UK is planning a reception for the ARISS delegates on Monday night.
Carlos will coordinate reciprocal operating privileges and frequencies to use.
2) New Business (administrative only)
None.
General Session
1) SSTV Presenters: S. Samburov, F. Bauer (via R. White)
Frank passed along to Rosalie that the certification tests from White Sands, NM, were good. Sergej reports that he will send to Lou, Frank, and Miles, the set of software programs associated with SSTV. Sergey and Lou asked Miles to confirm what software version should be sent to the ISS. Miles said the August 2003 version is what he thinks it should be. We are trying to get things fnished so SSTV can be handled while Sergey Krikalev is onboard. Sergey Samburov added that Krikalev passed the qualification training for SSTV operations, so what we need to do is provide the hardware, assembled and checked out. We need to determine whether we would send the equipment on Progress or the space shuttle, and for either one, paperwork needs to be completed immediately. For Progress, there are two options -- mid-June and August. Sergey will try to determine the exact dates for the launch schedule, and the SSTV team can determine if they can make those deadlines. The August option is easier for us since we have ham radio things manifested for that flight, now, and we could add a unit to that manifest. The Technical Team will meet later to work on this issue.
2) New business –
From AMSAT-UK and Graham comes the sad news that Ron Broadbent became a Silent Key last Sunday after a short illness. Rosalie passed along condolences from ARISS, and recalled that Ron had been an excellent ambassador and supporter for ARISS in its infancy.
May 17 is the likely date for the next ARISS-I meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Mark Steiner, K3MS for the ARISS Team
